The main characteristic of type 304 stainless steel wire is that it withstands high temperatures more robustly. Also, corrosion against acid sulfates, alkali chlorides, sulfuric, hydrochloric, acetic, formic and tartaric acids. In addition, it has a composition similar to type 316 stainless steel, which contains molybdenum and austenitic chrono nickel, this makes it have a greater resistance against corrosion, pitting of chloride ion solutions and, also, at high temperatures.
Type 316L is a variant of 316 with extra carbon that helps minimize harmful carbide precipitation in the heat affected zone of welding.
